Spencer Hamilton Pty Ltd (SHF) was incorporated in 2002 and from 2004 it began to house the Spencer investment portfolio which, at that time, consisted mostly of investments in clients of Oakhill Hamilton Pty Ltd. In time, it was decided to bring all corporate advisory together with the investment activities under the one roof since many of the activities were complimentary - e.g. supporting clients through the provision of seed capital, taking placements or subscribing to IPOs.
On 30 April 2009, SHF merged with Finsbury Hamilton Investments Pty Ltd (FHI) to further grow its investment activities. FHI has operated an investment portfolio since 2004 generally focussing on investment in blue chip stocks listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. FHI was set up to provide a means for discussion and review as well as the exchange of views and information identifying equity investment opportunities. Christian Visnovsky and Robert Waring, both directors of SHF, are founding directors of FHI.
Through its corporate advisory activities, SHF is able to identify investment opportunities at an early stage of development and to invest on a preferential basis. Investments will often, though not always, be in client and related companies about which SHF has reasonable familiarity with both the nature of the business and the people involved.
